Start with what you reach for
Before buying organizers, take everything out of one drawer. Keep the items you use often near the front and move occasional tools to a separate spot. A clear view of what remains tells you what size divider you need.
Measure the drawer
Measure inside width, depth, and height. Leave room for the drawer to close easily and for bulky handles to sit flat. An expandable divider can be useful when the space is awkward, but a few simple trays may work just as well.
Make it easy to maintain
Give everyday utensils a consistent place. If a layout only looks tidy when everything is perfectly aligned, it may not survive a busy week. Choose the arrangement you can reset in a minute.
